A female limousine driver employed by the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel was struck by a vehicle driven by a Seneca marshal early Saturday morning on Fourth Street and suffered a broken rib, broken leg and a concussion, a spokesman for the casino confirmed Sunday.
Apparently, the victim, a woman from North Tonawanda, was walking from the Seneca Office Building to the casino parking garage on Fourth Street at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday when she was hit by the marshal's vehicle, according to Seneca Gaming Corporation spokesman Philip J. Pantano.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Canter and was later transferred to Erie County Medical Centre. Niagara Falls Police Department is investigating the incident, while the casino is also conducting an investigation.
At this stage, it is not clear who is responsible for the accident. Was it due to a momentary lapse of concentration on the part of the chauffer? Maybe she wasn’t looking where she was going because she had been driving all day and being attentive that she got careless when not in the limo. Notwithstanding the on going investigation, it should be noted that it is the driver’s responsibility to look out for pedestrians – who in this case the unfortunate woman was.
